Economy Changes

    Economy Update.

    The economy was clearly not working after a few changes had been made to town mechanics shortly after launch. So Ive made some new changes that I feel will boost the economy and help players increase the size of their towns without the daily threat of not being able to pay their taxes.


    Taxes
    There are no taxes - Players no longer have to pay taxes to keep their town land or nation protected.

    Towny Prices:
    • Create a town - z125
    • Town block - z150
    • New Nation - z750
    • New Outpost - z1825
    • Teleport to town spawn - z10
    • Teleport to other town inside your own nation - z25
    Inactive Towns
    • 30 day Inactive Timer - If a town mayor or its town residents do not log in within a 30 day time period the town will be deleted.
    How to earn money
    • Slime Balls - This is the same as it used to be. Players will receive slime balls when they mine and gather resources. Players can trade the slime balls between one another or sell them to the server for zenni.
    • Daily Vote incentive - Players can still vote at the two sites listed on the home page for up to z50 a day.
    • Trade - Players can use trade signs and set up shop to trade with other players.
    RULE CHANGES
    • Players are not allowed to destroy public transportation systems. Even if it is outside of a town. (Roads connecting towns, or railways.)
    • If you have built a public transportation system and someone has smashed it up. Please contact a moderator and we can have it rolled back.
    • It is still ok to loot and raid buildings you find outside of towns.
    Donation package changes
    Daily zenni was removed because it was originally meant to be used to pay taxes.
    • Daily kit - The daily kit for each donor package that used to contain slime balls now contains tools and armour based on your donation rank.
    What we still need to figure out
    Money sinks - We need to figure out more ways for players to remove zenni from the economy.

    Once heroe's is all set up players will spend money when training a new hero profession, but not a whole lot. So I am looking for suggestions on things that players might want to spend their zenni on.. (keeping in mind the pvp dynamic of the server.)

    Nice updates. And for the money sinks I have a few ideas:
    • Lose a random amount of zenni within a range *example 50-500z everytime you die
    • Like we used to have on (I forget which version), where you can do a group teleport (Teleport a group of players to you <-- 15 second timer like /town spawn) for maybe a steep price cause it's invaluable
    • Maybe pay a set amount of zenni for Pets like Wolves or maybe Farm Animals like we used to have aswell

    without taxes, the economy is headed for a craphole, inflation will rise, and more things like that are bound to occur.
    and also could you make new outposts 1750, 1825 fells like a random number

    and seeing as how this is a survival pvp server, 30 days is a bit long for an inactive timer, it should be something like 14

    The main reason for removing the tax system is because players were not able to expand towns past a certain size without taxes getting too high to manage without some sort of free zenni through donation.

    Even for donating members it was becoming too hard to expand towns past a certain point because of the taxes involved.

    The tax system was not put in place to limit or hinder players from expanding. It was put in place as a way to remove towns from inactive players.

    This is some of the reasoning behind these changes. We don't want to limit players with needless restrictions. We just need to come up with more creative and fun ways for players to spend their money.

    well then i would definately agree with the ideas of a lottery, or how about if multi-world ever comes on, players can buy a ticket to a world for like creative or something for 500 zenni or something like that

    Doh, a different thread. I posted some ideas - mostly more outlandish than what is listed here currently - over here. In it I am a proponent of keeping taxes. Howeve, your comments above, ntall, do make sense.

    Is there an limit on the number of plots a town can have, indifferent to the number of residents, or can a town continue to expand as more residents are added?

    Town size does get larger if more residents are invited. I also sell extra town blocks at the ccStore.

    I like the idea of being able to buy enchantments on items like we had for a short time on the previous server. It seems worth zenni to know for sure what enchantment I'm going to get.

    Purchasable "emergency kits" would be nice too. Lost deep in a cave and your last pick, sword or torches ran out? Maybe kits for various iron items, food or torches for zenni. Like z25 for a crafting table, z50 for a half stack of torches or quarter stack of sticks, z75 for an iron pick or sword, z15 for a cake etc. The idea is to make the price high enough that people aren't just using the tools all the time, but low enough that they'll still be willing to buy them in a pinch.

    Purchasable stack of arrows kit. Maybe z25 a stack? That might be kind of high, not sure.

    Purchasable chain armor kit. Say z250 for a set.

    Building kits with stacks of things not easy to get in quantity ourselves would be nice too. Glowstone, end stone, netherrack etc. Glowstone of course can be gotten by digging grass during the day, but it's tedious to get in large quantities. However, this would probably be better made available in the ccStore so it could make money for the server.

    About real money;

    I would pay 25$ to buy diamond armor. 'nuff said.
    I would also pay for private me-only land out in the wilderness. I would assume this acts like the new town inactive limit, but one can flag thier land as oh say being on vacation so that it isn't removed. Once you log back in it's un-flagged. Can only be done once a month.

    Over expansion is only possible if someone purchases extra town blocks with real money... if this is the case than we want it to be possible.

    i finely got a nation and i tryed to go to some ones spawn but i will not let me use town spawn townname

    by the way how do you use nation chat?
