Hello people of charliecraft! This post isn't to hate on the server or anything like that, but I do wish Charliecraft wasn't updated. You see when I first joined charliecraft, the server was a 1.8.9 server or around there I believe, and I had a blast building houses and shops with other people, or making gravel roads into the nether portal, or fighting my first wither and having some random person help me willing to let me take the nether star. Charliecraft didn't have a whole lot of people maybe around 10 or so. But even when they weren't there to chat or to go out and do adventures throughout the map, I was there fighting mobs to collect lore armor, killing mobs to try to get the best weapons and armor. I just loved everything about Charliecraft! But im not really liking all the new updates and im being a little bias here because I don't like all the updates that goes over 1.8.9. I just wanted to say that I miss 1.8.9 charliecraft, when I play it now I don't really have much to do because no ones really online. Thanks for reading.

    I hear ya.

I loved MC since beta, and continued to love each update until around the time you mention.

Its frustrating how it all played out, but around that time Mojang sold Minecraft to Microsoft, changed their EULA and made it near impossible for mod makers, plugin developers, and server hosts to monetize their work(without breaking the law, anyway). So, most of the major players dropped out of those communities as they were unable to cover costs. While these changes devastated what was the Minecraft modding/plugin development community, Mojang still continued to put out updates. With each update these communities lost more and more of their favorite plugins as they became outdated and incompatible with current versions of Minecraft. We even almost lost bukkit completely and times were looking dark.

With all that happened its just so much harder to host a server filled with unique mods and features as server owners are now pretty much responsible for 90% of their own plugins and code. Coding new features and debuging them to create clean working plugins is very time consuming, and without the ability to monetize that work, its hard for one to dedicate tons of time when they also have to work a full time job and all that. Even just maintaining your existing code between major updates can turn into a full time job.

I still host CCraft because there are a few ppl that still play on it. Its sad, but the days of unique plugins, daily hosted events, etc, etc, are long gone. Now we rely on Mojang to keep things fresh as the server is basically pure vanilla with some extra convenience features.

Microsoft wants everyone to move to the console/C++ version so they can kill off the Java version. Then they'll have everyone locked in to their realms only and will be able to just sell skins to milk their players for more money.
